International student story

Sydney: where your dream career can come true

Ratih is a student from Indonesia completing a PhD in Psychology at the University of New South Wales on a scholarship. Ratih chose NSW after hearing many positive stories from Indonesian students about their time studying and working in NSW.

About Ratih

After arriving in NSW, Ratih was impressed by how supportive the universities are for international students. This includes getting support to develop a startup with the Founders Program at UNSW. After graduating, Ratih plans to give back to the Indonesian community by returning to become a lecturer, researcher and psychologist.

Raith's tips

“The expectations for academic performance are generally high, so be prepared. Try reading about international student life in NSW. Be open minded, empathetic and respectful of the many cultures. Lastly, take the time to explore your living options and use budgeting tools. Accommodation can be challenging to find in NSW.”
